I had the pleasure of sitting down with Maui owner Joey Mattos, of Maker Surfboards, to hear his story about how he left everything to start a surfboard company with his wife Tiana. They are a Hawaiian husband and wife team, building all their boards from start to finish. Joey is a well rounded shaper and Tiana is known for some of the most creative glass work around. Together they are able to create some of the most high performing, visually pleasing surfboards around.
