Welcome to our quick hand sewing tutorials where we teach stitches and techniques used by the 18th century Mantua Maker & Tailor that can be used in your sewing today! Great if you are just learning to hand sew or brushing up!

In this video we go through the process of the blanket, or applique stitch. This technique is used not only to finish blankets, but is found on raw edges in the interiors of 18th and 19th century gowns, men's tailored garments. You also find the same type of stitch used for applique work.
