15- years of R&D, 14 iterations, 1,000s of hours of dust ingestion testing, and analyzing 1,000,000s of hours of installed base data and advanced analytics with our GE90 and GEnx engines … that’s how rigorously committed GE Aerospace, and our 50/50 joint partner Safran Engines, are to the CFM LEAP engine’s TOW leadership in hot and harsher flying environments where dust is prevalent issue. Dust can accelerate the distress in parts, which can result in engines coming in for service sooner. However, GE Aerospace engineers got granular in the science to “turn on” these issues in the lab to “turn off” the challenges LEAP has been facing in the field.
