TEDx Talks | Leadership at the bottom of the pyramid | Parmita Sarma | TEDxCaledonian Intl School Youth @TEDx | Uploaded October 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
Parmita Sarma’s talk on Leadership at the Bottom of the Pyramid likely focuses on a leadership model that starts with the grassroots level, emphasizing how individuals in marginalized communities can drive change from the bottom up. Akshar Foundation operates a model school called Akshar Forum, and is currently executing a project to transform government-run schools into hi-tech sustainable communities by implementing Akshar’s NEP 2020 Model. As the co-founder of Akshar Foundation, Parmita oversaw the growth of this NGO from inception to achieving global recognition, lauded by the Prime Minister of India, United Nations, World Economic Forum, and Earth Day Network. Akshar’s model breaks vicious economic cycles by providing avenues for employment within the school itself. The students work in the school as tutors for younger kids, designing and printing worksheets, taking attendance, building furniture, growing food, recycling plastic, treating injuries, repairing electronics, among many other jobs. Based on Mahatma Gandhi’s Nai Talim education model, students in the school learn by doing. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
