The above quotation is from our mission statement. It's near and dear to us because it gets right to the heart of what education is supposed to do in this world. Our university president, Dr. William Dudley, actually teaches a philosophy seminar class with a focus on our mission statement.
One reason future leaders choose Washington and Lee is that we're a small institution offering the opportunities of a much larger school — our 78 majors and minors include the traditional liberal arts and sciences, as well as areas like business, engineering and journalism. Research opportunities, study abroad programs, and supported internship experiences help our students go beyond the classroom, regardless of their financial background. Our young alums speak well of the preparation they received from the minute they arrived on campus; 97% of the class of 2021 found employment or enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduating.
