Welcome to the Missionary Discussion #1: God's Plan for Humanity
Hello, friends. I'm Elder Reel, and I'm grateful you've chosen to spend a little time with me today.
Before we begin, I'd like to explain something about this series.
As missionaries, our hope is always to invite people to come unto Jesus Christ. We believe the restored gospel changes lives. But we also believe that a lifelong covenant should never be entered into without understanding what you're choosing.
This series is a pilot project exploring what missionary discussions might look like if we placed an even greater emphasis on honesty, transparency, and informed consent. Rather than saving difficult topics or important expectations until later, we want to introduce our beliefs openly and trust that truth is strong enough to stand in the light.
That doesn't mean we'll answer every question in a few conversations. It does mean we'll try to give you a fuller picture of what Latter-day Saints believe, what membership involves, and why millions of people have chosen this path. We'll also acknowledge where sincere people sometimes see things differently and encourage you to study those questions for yourself.
In today's discussion, we'll begin where we believe everything begins—with God's plan for His children. We'll talk about why we're here, where we came from, why Jesus Christ is central to God's plan, and why we believe a Restoration was necessary.
As you watch, I invite you to do more than simply listen. Think carefully. Read the scriptures. Pray if prayer is part of your faith. Ask questions. Seek understanding from multiple trustworthy sources. If what we're teaching is true, it will withstand careful investigation.
Wherever your journey leads, my hope is that your decision will be one made with faith, honesty, and a clear understanding of what you're choosing.
