California rice harvest is just ahead but this 2017 crop is extremely lazy! Lazy? It's almost all laying down due to, what I think, was high temperatures in the 100+ºF range. The rice plants grew too tall and fell over. This can also be attributed to over fertilizing but we used less fertilizer on this field than last year. And laster year we cut the rice standing up!
