California lawmakers have passed a bill authored by Democrat Alex Lee that would require state agencies to reassess their telework policies and create a program to evaluate how effective telework is. The measure would not end the state’s return-to-office mandate, but it would encourage further study of remote work. The bill passed the California Senate and Assembly with more than two-thirds support, potentially giving lawmakers enough votes to override a veto from Gov. Gavin Newsom.
