Today I bring you a suite of Laura's theme, from the eponymous 1944 noir "Laura", directed by Otto Preminger, composed by David Raksin and conducted by Alfred Newman. "Laura" follows the story of a detective who becomes obsessed with the woman whose death he's investigating. As such, almost all of the music in the film either contains Laura's theme or derives from it, creating an obsessive atmosphere which mirror's the protagonist's mindset. According to Royal S. Brown, Laura is "perhaps THE classic example of the fetishizing of women via music". (from Overtones and Undertones: Reading Film Music)
