First of all the premise for this level is hilarious and Mbed thought of a great name to go with the silly idea of using a contest level template from 3 years ago.
That aside, it feels good to be in something published again. Mbed's parts (the first blue square, the ball, the last wave) are surprisingly not bad considering this is his first time working on a serious level, my parts (the green wave, the square right after) are alright I guess, and Queso's parts (the ships and ufos) are really cool looking (seriously this guy better get the CP he deserves when Rebirth comes out).
Despite my real effort, my parts turned out a little whack, especially the wave part. I was trying to simultaneously stay within the 1.9 aesthetic, build off of mbed's parts, take from my own style, and try some new design ideas; doing all of these at once ended up with a pretty weird whole that's certainly far from bad but I'd hoped it would be a little better. Oh well, can't win em all. I do like how some of the ideas worked out- I love the big fake in my square even though Mbed had to nerf it; my curvy arrow trail in the wave part looks completely incongruous to the design of the rest of the part but I like how different it is; I spent a lot of time trying to make appropriately dynamic colors as always, with some wowzers holy-style 0-opacity flashes; the blocks really don't look all that bad considering I intentionally restricted myself to weird structures; the gameplay sync in the wave turned out really nice, and I like the overall structure of the end of the cube part.
Anyway, enough rambling on about myself. Ya'll should go to Mbed's account and take a look, hopefully this at least gets rated for him!
