Today I played my last placement match for season 5 in ranked Overwatch. The Rank at the end was a little surprising to say the least - This Match was taken from the livestream on my Twitch channel.
If you are surprised about how the ranking system works let me explain here:
There are 2 values in Overwatch your SR, which is your Skill Rating and your (hidden) MMR.
SR is the number that you can see where you get points for wins and lose points for losses.
MMR is your actual Matchmaking Rating to determine your skill.
The MMR is calculated by comparing your hero stats to other players playing that hero.
So it will take your individual skill into consideration.
This means if your MMR is above your SR you will get more points, because your SR is trying to reach your MMR.
In my case my MMR must have been somewhere at around 3250 - that's why I ended up at 3070 SR.
Since the placement matches put you 200ish points below your SR to give you a "point -boost" at the beginning of the season to motivate you playing. This means you get lots of points and lose only a few.
