See how the new Last Key Usage metadata in Azure Cosmos DB helps you rotate keys safely without breaking apps. In the Keys tab, you’ll now see the latest key usage timestamp; you can also drill into keys metadata to confirm which key was used most recently.
This demo shows:
• Creating activity with the SDK (database, container, items) to generate usage
• Waiting for propagation and verifying timestamps in the portal
• Viewing approximate last usage in keys metadata
• How generation time is treated as initial usage for new keys
• Running read-only operations (queries) and seeing timestamps update
• Attempting to rotate a recently used key and how new validation helps prevent downtime
