Giga-casting is an advanced manufacturing method in automotive body production, where large aluminum components for electric vehicles are produced in a single high-pressure die-casting step. This significantly reduces the number of individual parts and joining points – cutting down weight, cost, and complexity.
The video focuses on the cleaning step: A Giga-Cast component is precisely cleaned using the TruMicro 7000 ultrashort pulse laser. Contaminants, oxides, and functional surface layers are selectively removed – only where necessary – and entirely residue-free. The non-contact, micrometer-precise process ensures ideal conditions for strong and durable adhesive bonding.
