This video consists of a description of a laser based camera trigger mechanism for use with a high speed shadowgraph. A spinning mirror with a slot in it is used to create a short pulse of light. Part of the mirror is covered with a black disk. When the laser reflects off of the mirror the resistance of a photocell is reduced which allows a relay to activate which triggers the camera. When the laser impinges on the black disk the resistance of the circuit is increased to much for the relay to activate.
