The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) is assisting the French Police at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics while preparing for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
LASD personnel comprised of 28-memebers departed from Los Angeles to Paris, France. This team comprises various units, including Patrol duties, Canine units, and additional specialize units.
During their collaboration with the French Police at the Paris Olympics, each LASD specialist will focus on best practices for maintaining safety and security. They will bring this knowledge back to Los Angeles, ensuring they are better trained and prepared for the 2028 Olympics.
Working internationally allows LASD personnel to observe and discuss public safety strategies with police officers worldwide. The goal is to provide the Los Angeles County community with the highest level of public safety services when the Olympics arrive to Los Angeles.
Additionally, LASD is there to support the French government and authorities during the early stages of the Olympics, serving as a resource for American tourists and athletes participating in the Games. This opportunity is instrumental in preparing LASD for it’s role in the 2028 Olympics.
