Earlier on during the concert, Larry had complained that the local promoters hadn't provided a proper piano, so he might not play any piano songs that night and might just stick to playing his guitar (the one he played on this tour actually was borrowed from Norman Barratt). Once he did finally sit down at the keyboard it was a different story. He ended up playing 20 piano songs in a concert where a large section of the audience had to leave and catch their bus or train home while Larry played on until 12:15am! In the longest of the piano medleys that night, Larry played some songs which had started life as songs in some of his musicals (he'd taken part as a writer in Alison, and had also written other musicals like Birthday For Shakespeare and Lion's Breath). Strong Love, Strange Peace was a song which was sometimes played live in his 1970's concerts but went unreleased until it appeared on the 'Come As A Child' live album. It had been recorded during his days being published by Beechwood Music and an early studio recording featured as a bonus track on the 2 CD deluxe edition of 'Upon This Rock' (released in 2000) while another orchestrated studio recording was issued as a bonus track on the numerous reissues of 'In Another Land' (from 1993 onwards) ; Love On Haight Street was another song from a musical of the same name - a studio recording of that was released on 1999's 2 CD set 'Rough Street Love Letter'; I've Got To Learn To Live Without You was on 1972's classic album 'Only Visiting This Planet' (MGM Records) and would be covered a few years later by Petula Clark; Soul Survivor was on 1973's 'So Long Ago The Garden' album also recorded at AIR Studio's in London; Butterfly was said to have been recorded for the same album but went unreleased until 2003's 'Instigator' release in the Essential series of albums. This live recording from the Edinburgh Festival (possibly the only time the song was ever performed live) was issued on the 'Norman Conquest' live album released in 2005. Near was first released on 1999's 'Father Touch' fan club CD, and then as a stunning solo piano / vocal version on the 'Rough Diamonds, Precious Jewels' (Belfast Bootlegs) 4 CD set in 2001. Studio recordings - instrumental and finally with a vocal - appeared on the final versions of the 'Tourniquet' album (summer 2001-2006). When All My Dreams Are Ending had been written as early as 1965 and was around in his days with the band People! - who had shown little interest in recording the song. It went unreleased until a studio recording graced the 'Father Touch' fan club CD in 1999. The song was only performed in concert on a handful of occasions. 'Without You' had been played live a few times and showed up on the 'Gathered Moments' and Belfast Bootlegs live compilations and Under His Love was co-written with Steve Camp who included a studio recording on his 'Start Believin'' album.

Sometimes when Larry was asked about being the Father of Christian Rock he pointed out he was just continuing in the tradition of song from spirituals and preaching blues from half a century or more earlier than his own earliest records. Other times he did say, I liked it better when I was the only one doing it!
