The snub dodecahedron is an Archimedean solid with 12 pentagonal sides, and 80 triangular sides, for a total of 92 faces. This makes it highly spherical in final form, and more truly so from neodymium magnets than the better known so-called 'Ultimate Sphere' . This supersized version is of length 'L6' (Boyd's terminology for the math of his shape in his tutorial), and is the largest yet completed, heavy enough that it starts to flatten and distort at the bottom without the foam rubber supports that can be seen in my video. The next larger version (L7) would most likely fully collapse under its own weight, so this is probably also the largest version possible with N35 strength 5mm neodymium magnetic balls.
Uses a total of 60 × 12 + 150 × 24 + 80 × (12+9) + 12 × 202 = 8424 magnets, in a symmetrical gold and nickel design.

$Rhombic Fractal Hemisphere Mega Cluster | Part Tutorial | 7632 Neodymium Magnetic Balls This large hollow cluster shape is built from 5mm neodymium ball magnets and uses 2 fundamental units: a solid interlocked pentagonal one of 21 balls (in gold) and a solid interlocked square one of 17 balls. 5 of the square units fit around the pentagonal unit to make each mini hemisphere subunit of 106 balls, 6 of which interconnected form each of 12 larger hemispheres. These 12 hemispheres interconnected in turn form a mega cluster sphere. A total of 6 × 12 = 72 pentagonal units, and 5 × 6 × 12 = 360 square units. A total magnet count of the 72 mini hemisphere mega cluster of: 17 × 5 + 21 = 106, 106 × 6 × 12 = 7632 magnetic balls. 2 large hemispheres of 6 subunits each can be easily connected as shown to make a smaller sphere of 12 × 106 = 1272 balls. The full 72 mini hemisphere cluster is a lot trickier to build but once completed it is very strong, because the units used to make it are solid (in compact form). If you look closely at this structure you can find fractal quasi self-similarity (partial but not exactly identical) among 3 levels of scale that resemble the geometry of a rhombic triacontahedron (a 30 diamond sided polyhedron). There are also symmetrical gaps formed among the units that make the whole structure look weirder.
