This presentation will provide an overview of LLMs, including their strengths and limitations, and discuss how they are being used in disinformation campaigns. Additionally, the presentation will examine the potential impact of LLMs on the future of work, particularly in the field of computer security, and highlight the need for new strategies to deal with the increasing sophistication of LLM-generated attacks. The talk will conclude by discussing the ethical and social implications of LLMs, particularly in relation to job displacement and data privacy.
Heather Lawrence is a Security Data Scientist at Threatkey, specializing in applying machine learning to cybersecurity, with a focus on the application of machine learning to network intrusion detection. Her consultancy, Atropos Insights, provides clients with custom machine learning solutions. She is a PhD candidate in Cybersecurity at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs with over a decade of experience at the intersection of engineering, computer security, and machine learning. Prior to joining Threatkey, she was a United States Navy nuclear engineer, National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition winner, and darknet marketplace miner. Her research has been presented at the DEF CON AI Village and the Journal of Systems Architecture.
