Restoration Project #37: Large Format Lens - Part 1
Earlier this year, a friend from Germany asked around if anybody knew about a "weird lens" he found in a dumpster. Having studied a fair bit about photography, I provided some insights and offered my helping paw in an attempt to get it into working order.
The glass appears to be in good condition: nothing scratched, and it seems to be clear all the way through. But overall it was in bad condition: the lens was wobbling around. Both inside the lens plate and within itself; that is the front and back parts were not properly connected anymore. Something was broken for sure.
When I got the lens, I put it on my "future projects" shelf for a bit - it didn't look too troublesome. But when I started with the project... well... you see that it's at least two parts for a video. Come and find out how bad it actually is and join for the next related video to see if I can resurrect it!
