There are 500 people who live on an island... in Iowa! Known as "Iowa's Island City," the City of Sabula is located right in the middle of the Mississippi River.
Legend has it that in 1835, a man got on a log in Illinois and floated across the Mississippi, landing at present-day Sabula. He settled on the land because of its good, sandy soil. Now nearly 200 years later, that man's rogue, log-riding legacy lives on.
