Dozens of Lahaina fire survivors have contacted local and state officials about problems with the contractors they hired to rebuild.
Three years after the deadliest U.S. wildfire in a century, it seems like none of these contractors have faced consequences.
No criminal charges have been filed and state regulators don’t appear to have issued any fines for their post-disaster conduct.
“It’s sad because we were warned this was going to happen,” said Sen. Angus McKelvey of Lahaina, who lost his home in the fire. “It’s happening.”
