Labor Day weekend with a BN twist.
While yesterday's trip to the IRM wasn't planned and was more of a "spur of the moment" type deal, today's trip was indeed planned. We return to the Illinois Railway Museum yet again, this time to attend their Labor Day weekend event. Today was an interesting one as two of the trains operating on the mainline today were both powered by BN painted units, BN 5383 and the recently touched up BN 9976 as well as Shay 5 and some of the electrics.
Now 9976 wouldn't get her time on the main until later in the day and 9911A would be seen hauling the Zephyr until around the 2 o'clock hour, but regardless today was still an action packed day even with today starting off a bit odd, but it was good to see the 9976 hit the main again, Shay 5 strutting her stuff, a glimpse at a G Scale Layout near the depot, some familiar faces running up and down the line, and a surprise appearance by a UP Belvidere Sub train. So all in all, a fun day all around. Happy Labor Day! Enjoy!
