The Royal Opera presents an enchanting world in its much-loved production of this classic opera. Directed by Richard Eyre, La Traviata is based on the novel and play La Dame aux Camélias by Alexandre Dumas. The whole story is inspired by the life and death of the real Parisian courtesan, Marie Duplessis, which makes everything all the more tragic and poetic at the same time. The opera contains some of Verdi’s most beautiful music, listen out for the popular arias and duets, including “Sempre libera” at the end of act 1!
