A video of me and some of my friends dicking around the first map of Left 4 Dead, No Mercy
Left 4 Dead is an arcade zombie shooter developed by Valve. In particular, this is Left 4 Dead 2, which after inheriting everything from Left 4 Dead 1 through a series of DLC, there's no real reason to play the first one.
Anyway, so how has it been going? Me? Not much. Been pretty busy actually. What with university and such. All of us have been.. But thankfully it's almost over. We haven't been able to gather like this and play for a while now. It was a fun night of Left 4 Dead-ing.
There's also the fact that I got my hands on the Dungeons & Dragons 5 ed. corebooks and I want to DM a campaign. Reading the books has taken time.
There is more to this video that I would like to upload, but that can wait since this video is already clocking at 20 minutes even after I edited it.
Before Touhou and all of that, I used to play the shit out of Left 4 Dead. Like, I was really good at it. Never had a group of friend I could play Expert with, but I did used to play Vs. mode and Realism frequently. My favorite map is probably Hard Rain. It's so atmospheric.
If you haven't watch it, watch the intro for Left 4 Dead 1. In my opinion is a masterpiece of an intro. It introduces the players to so many concept in a coherent video. Concepts like "Don't shoot the cars", the abilities of the special infected. "Run and shoot". I like arcade shooters. Military shooters like CoD and Battlefield strive for realism, so running and shooting is an easy way to miss all your shots and absorb bullets. But since arcade shootings are not like this, they get away with such a thing. I'm so looking forward to the release of Killing Floor 2. Some of my fondest memories in college were of me and my friends wasting hours late on Friday to play that game in the computer science association office, only stopping to go to Wendy's and eat. How I miss those salad days ;_;
