It could probable be made a little faster by better maneuvering the beginning dive jumps along the slope leading up to the warp. And maybe better the Spinning platform skip. This is not the case, as both subs diverge. I should have explicitly expressed "sums to large N". Sorry, my bad!IMPORTANT: I haven't seriously studied mathematics in over two years at this point, so I am severely oversimplifying how one infinity can be larger than another. This is not *entirely* correct in the most technical sense, but for a dumbed down video, and to what I can remember about mathematics, this is a decent enough video to enjoy. Feel free to leave corrections in the comments, and I will make a pinned comment with a list of all corrections! Pre-description note: I didn't explicitly explain my reasoning for my proof using the more complex notation. The reason is that I defined P(s) and Q(s) as μ(i) times the values of the zeta summation. Basically, I defined P and Q with the μ(i), and thus need to use this notation to show my proof. [WR] [TAS] Hallowoomy Any% (121633) TimeTravelPenguin TAS 2018-12-31 | Frames: 4898visRerecs: 8094Time save: 271vis (4.517 seconds)I first TAS'd this in late August 2016. It was good for me at the time, but I've known for a while it was improvable. So, I put myself to the test. There are time saves in each "level". You can see here a slow-mo side-by-side comparison: youtu.be/t8CT1-vWHz8The majority of time saved is from the 2nd level, where I used an improved BLJ strat to cut out a LOT of wall sliding. Another insane time cut is with a new BLJ on the bone in the 3rd level. This was known to me shortly after my TAS came out, but it was EXTREMELY difficult to pull off. I have literally spent months attempting to pull it off. But, after a while, I developed an alteration to the previously known faster BLJ strat, which is basically the same, but a more difficult angle to reach a higher point, closer to the star. TLDR: I made it harder for myself.The rest of the TAS, being the 1st and last level, were mostly small improvements with better techniques. I do believe there is at LEAST 1f improvement in the bowser stage, assuming you can't grab Bowser's tail without sliding for 4 or 5 frames (it's dumb and idk why Bowser is so freakin difficult), but the possible 1f improvement would likely come from a better tail grab location, allowing him to hit the lava sooner. Combined with better movement, there may be another few frames to chew off, but I couldn't do it, and after a while, settled for this.This TAS was much harder than I thought it would be, looking back at the original. Furthermore, I did the entire thing WITHOUT LUA scripting, due to my MupenLUA not working with ROM Hacks... I tried to be fancy, ok. But I am no CeeSZee where he can do that stuff Non-TAS.Anyway, I hope this was worth watching. It was a lot of fun to redo. [WR] [TAS] SMB 1-1 Hack (1815) TimeTravelPenguin TAS 2018-10-07 | This is actually insane. I first TAS'd this over 2 years ago, improving Plush's run (18"28) by 1f (18"25). This time, I saved a further 6 frames!Frames: 1089 (x-cam)Rerecs: 1119(Note: I chopped ~2sec of black frames from the beginning of the TAS)I managed to save 6f off my previous TAS. In all honesty, this TAS is actually dumb. Let me explain what happened.Firstly, I think I punched 1f sooner than the previous TAS, which makes no sense, but ok lmfaoIn the final part of the TAS, from the pipe to the star, initially, I punched, ran for 2f, then Z→Z+B butt slide, then pressed A to recover immediately. In the previous TAS, I recreated Nis's movement of a TAS he did in a TAS Competition, which was to run for several frames so I can long jump ONTO the pipe, and long jumped again, immediately landing on the rightmost edge of the same pipe, then falling, and doing my first jump on the step. That long jump on the pipe gave the extra speed needed to save the 1f on the previous TAS.However, this time I did something different. After several hours of comparison, recording movies, and watching them frame by frame, side by side, I realized you can run a frame longer on the first pipe before butt sliding, and then long jumping earlier to reach the pipe. By doing so, it seems Mario has enough speed to not need to do the older movement (and not the long jump for extra speed on the 2nd pipe). If I used the older movement, running for those extra frames lost speed, but the long jump on the 2nd pipe gave it back allowing the jump dice to reach the star.This time, however, I ran 1f longer on the first pipe, landed closer to the pipe, and then saved time back by not needing to run. Finally, on the dive jump, I had to delay the dive a little to avoid bonking, but that's ok. It was still fast!These details may be slightly incorrect. This TAS is honestly really confusing.This is a terrible explanation, but I hope it makes sense.tl;dr WRFurthermore, I redid this whole TAS from scratch, because I wanted to test the other 2 segments for improvements: pre-underground, and underground. Although he was more interested in, I guess, the more practical uses, I was more interested in the mathematics.This problem isn't easy to solve, but if it is requested, I am happy to go through the mathematics in another video. But it wouldn't be too easy to understand for some viewers.This problem doesn't have a nice clean formula, by the way. It is a multi summation function (equal to the number of dimensions, by the way) that, more or less, has an IF statement in the middle (or multiple for multi-dimensions), along with the GCD(x,y) (or GCD(x,y,z,w,v,...) for.. ok, you get the point). In this state, no doors have hit boxes. But, activating a text box will cause time stop to end.
