SaveStationThis 3D animation was designed to share life-saving information with the general public to demonstrate the importance of good effective CPR!
Effective compressions create an artificial pump and send oxygenated blood to the brain to keep the brain alive. CPR also keeps blood and oxygen moving through the heart muscle itself so that it has the best chance of being successfully defibrillated when the AED arrives.
After a Sudden Cardiac Arrest, brain damage will start to set in within 4 minutes and is irreversible after 10 minutes. CPR is the person’s only chance of survival while waiting for an automated external defibrillator to arrive.

Her dad needed an AED (automated external defibrillator) — but because it was a Saturday, the school was locked, and a brick wall stood in the way of possibly saving his life. 💔
Determined that no other family should face the same heartbreak, Kara turned tragedy into purpose. She began leading a movement to make AEDs accessible to everyone — 24/7.
Through Kara’s vision and Advent Health’s generous support, outdoor AEDs are now being placed at schools, transforming them into community hubs for safety and readiness. Each school field equipped with an AED means lives can be saved — not just students, but parents, coaches, and neighbours too.
Watch Kara’s inspiring story and see how her mission, with the help of Advent Health and Action First Aid, is building Heart Safe Communities across the region. What Does Your Phone and an AED Have in Common?☀️🤔SaveStation2025-09-30 | Have you ever seen an outdoor AED and wondered whether it can withstand extreme temperatures?

Every year, sudden cardiac arrest takes lives in parks, trails, and public spaces. The difference between life and death often comes down to three things: a bystander starting CPR, access to an AED (automated external defibrillator), and a quick call to 911.
Richland’s HEARTSafe Community effort shows how collaboration across departments, residents, and local leadership brought these outdoor SaveStation AED placements to life. From hiking trails like Badger Mountain to busy city parks like Howard Amon Park, these climate-controlled, monitored cabinets keep AEDs ready for rescue in all conditions — from below freezing to extreme heat.

In this 3D medical animation, we explain how a sudden blow to the chest can interrupt the heart’s electrical cycle, trigger ventricular fibrillation, and cause sudden cardiac arrest.
To be prepared in the event of commotio cordis, it is critical to understand the chain of survival. Immediate recognition of collapse, calling emergency services, starting CPR without delay, and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) within minutes dramatically improve survival. Equally important is ensuring that AEDs are accessible at sports fields, schools, and community centers, and that coaches, teammates, and bystanders are trained in CPR so they can respond quickly and effectively when every second counts.

Despite immediate efforts, there was no AED nearby, and precious minutes were lost. His passing is a heartbreaking reminder that sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere - even to healthy young athletes.
Experts emphasize that bystander CPR and quick access to an AED can mean the difference between life and death, and stories like Louis’ and others such as Damar Hamlin’s highlight the urgent need for teams, schools, and coaches to be prepared.
Karen and John Acompora have honoured Louis’ memory by creating the Louis J. Acompora Memorial Foundation, dedicated to improving sports safety and preventing similar tragedies. The foundation has championed the placement of AEDs in schools and youth athletic organizations, developed national athletic standards for chest protectors, supported Public Access Defibrillation programs, and raised awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and commotio cordis. Their mission ensures athletes are better protected with lifesaving tools and education, while inspiring communities to take action so that no family has to endure the same loss.

1. Perform a monthly physical check to ensure that the SaveStation is free of debris or clutter that could block access. Ensure there is no physical damage to the cabinet.
2. Open the SaveStation cabinet by swiping the maintenance card over the side of the cabinet (over the ‘A’ of ‘AED). This puts the cabinet into maintenance mode and turns off the cabinet alarm.
3. Next, remove the AED and check for any expired supplies (pads and battery), ensure the ‘Ready for Rescue’ symbol is showing a positive status. As well check the AED First Aid Response kit is intact and supplies are not expired.
4. Clean the cabinet floor and dust off connections.
5. Replace the AED & optical sensor (ensure the sensor connects properly) and close the cabinet door – the cabinet will reinstate the alarm.
6. Once the SaveStation cabinet displays reads 4 ‘okays’, you are done!

Prevod 3D posnetka sta vodila asist. Tino Balič (prevod in lektura) in Jasmino Bauman (Regionalni RTV-center Maribor).
With the support of SaveStation Distributor, Action First Aid, AEDs will be distributed to most 'Aid Stations' along the course. Together, we are ensuring a cardiac safe race day!
Good luck to all participants! 🏃♀️ 🏃

Knowing what sudden cardiac arrest actually looks like is critical. We need to be prepared for some of the most common signs, so that we can act appropriately and quickly.
Warning, some scenes are graphic.AED in Action | A 3D look inside the bodySaveStation2021-10-16 | This 3D animation takes us inside the body and allows us to watch what happens when an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is used on someone in sudden cardiac arrest.
We’ve used the real-life ECG strip of a sudden cardiac arrest survivor to illustrate in realtime what was happening to his heart and how the AED worked to stop all electrical activity and allow Steve’s heart the opportunity to begin beating normally again.
Using an AED is easy and is the person’s only chance of survival! Simply by following the voice prompts, anyone can use an AED and have the power to save a life.
SaveStation is committed to widespread access, awareness and public education about when and how to use an AED and perform effective CPR.
Stories told by Instructors, Paramedics, Firefighters and First Aiders about their experiences giving CPR. These are personal anecdotes ranging from a restaurant rescue to the sensory impressions of cracking cartilage. In these interviews, they get candid about how unpleasant it can be (the sounds), what it feels like (squishy) and how hard you actually have to push.
We feel it is important that you hear the truth about the experience so that you are mentally prepared to step in and perform CPR when it is needed most.SaveStation and the DP Open Inspiring Seattle to Become Cardiac SafeSaveStation2021-10-06 | SaveStation and Katrysha Gellis, a Sudden Cardiac Arrest Survivor, are very proud to support the DP Open annual charity golf tournament!
