I Tried the CHEAPEST 4 Season Tent for Winter Camping! Daley Explores 2024-01-14 | I bought the cheapest 4 season budget tent I could find and took it out for a winter test in some local woodland.It started out well, with pitching the Vango Helvellyn 200 tent and enjoying a nice relaxing camp fire. However once I was inside the tent I could NOT get warm. I was in my Nemo Forte 20 sleeping bag, which is comfort rated to zero degrees (extreme -7). Budget Wild Camper vs. 40+ mph Winds Daley Explores 2023-10-15 | Join me and @GrizzlyGaz for this wild camp up on Kinder Scout in the Peak District. I tried out 'ultraheavy' camping and tested out the Wild Country Panacea 2 tent. My pack was 16kg in total for the trip.Though the weather forecast looked OK when we set off, we never imagined it would change the way it did.The wind changed direction after we’d pitched up and got up to 51mph gusts, flattening Gaz's NatureHike Tunnel tent, and eventually bending the poles on my Panacea 2 (I had trekking poles in place too!).We decided we needed to bail. The choice was to wait until the morning, where heavy rain had been forecast from 5am onwards, or head down in the dark. Either way the wind wasn't scheduled to drop so we slowly and safely packed up our gear, and took a slow walk down Grindslow Clough at 3am.I planned to test out a new Sea 2 Summit deluxe pillow too, but you'll have to wait for a verdict once I've actually slept on it!Thanks for watching! Wild Camping at a Secret Crash Site Daley Explores 2023-06-04 | Join me and @GrizzlyGaz as we explore Bleaklow Moor in search of some plane crash sites. The B-29 Overexposed site is probably the most well-known on this area of the Peak District. We visited this site first up near Higher Shelf Stones, then carried on, down part of the Pennine Way to find the more secluded site of the Blenheim Mk.I L1476 wreckage.After a decent 12 mile hike, we wild camped back near the trig point on Higher Shelf Stones with far-reaching views spanning from Kinder Scout, all the way across to the city lights of Manchester.I was in my Wild Country Helm 1, and Gaz had his Vango Starve 200 (EXPERIENCE don’t ya know!). It’s been AGES since I took my 3F UL GEAR Lanshan 2 tent out, so I decided to take it along on this one. It’s a 3 season tent and is colder than my Helm 2, so it proved ideal for testing out the new Light Tour 5.8R insulated step mat!The Light Tour is ASTM rated with an R value of 5.8, so while not exactly the same rating as the popular Therm-A-Rest xTherm mats, it should bd warm enough for pretty much any conditions in the UK. I don’t think there is one tent that is suitable for wild camping all year, which is why most wild campers end up owning a few (that, and the fact that most of us just love collecting gear).
