Kyu-Young Kim turned down a position in the N.Y. Philharmonic to stay at The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and take on an innovative new role. His new gig? A unique combination of musical performance and management leadership as Senior Director of Artistic Planning AND Principal Second Violinist. At the December 2013 Annual Meeting, he told his story.
Looking to the future, he noted: "Entrepreneurship at the SPCO is about raising your hand and demonstrating your passion for an idea that you're burning to do and persevering through all the obstacles that will inevitably stand in your way. It is our job as an organization to support that kind of entrepreneurship for all of our current and future musicians, for the staff, and for the board."
