Welcome to our first podcast of 2020, featuring CICAS® artist Kyoko, a first generation Japanese-American musician, performance artist and actor living in Los Angeles.
Kyoko performs as solo artist Jinja Brew and more recently with their new project Wastewomxn, a queer Afro-Asian band including London-based CICAS® artists Ade Boluwatife & Tobi Adebajo. Their music flows between the genres of R&B, afrobeat, pop, jazz and rock, all influenced by the queer diaspora, social activism and art.
The transatlantic QTIBPOC (Queer, Transgender and Intersex People of Colour) punk band met in London in 2015 and despite their physical distance, continue to create exciting music.
