There’s something far worse than failure,

Barefoot steps as the ice breaks,
Night, and the whirling snow.
Carrying fire that heartache
Scorches, it burns him so.
Behind are all who falter,
Doubtful and clinging cold;
Frozen in black ice altars,
Statues of fear, grown old.
"Do you know where you’re leading?"
"I do." – "How does it feel,
To carry a blood-hot burden,
To suffer and not yet heal?"
"It’s hard." – "And what of the others,
The ones who trudge in your wake?"
"They’re shadows. But still, they’re brothers."
"And what if their faith should break?"
Ice cuts the flesh like a dagger,
The wind tears the world apart.
The silence is sharp and jagged;
The snow weighs heavy on hearts.
No warmth, no sight, just running
Through night, through endless pain,
While the memory of summer’s promise
Lies buried in cold, red stains.
"Will you endure till morning?"
"I will." – "But can they survive?"
"I’ll guide them, my strength restoring
The fire that keeps us alive."
"And what of the road? Could flames not
Clear every obstacle here?"
"It’s wiser, yes. But I burn not
Through logic – my fire is clear."
Tears freeze like fragile crystals;
Despair bites harder than steel.
The final remnants of courage
Submit to the wrath they feel.
But still, a few step forward,
Through snow and the endless night,
Their silence speaks frozen anguish,
Their shadows beyond his sight.
"Can you live on, unbroken,
Knowing they died for you?"
"I did not come for my rescue –
This road was for them, not too few.
They’ll live – they’ll forget, as humans.
What matters is this: survive."
"And you? What fate looms above you?"
"I don’t need the world alive."
Pain burns. It grows unyielding.
The cold chokes breath from his soul,
As claws of the darkness beckon
To shatter what once was whole.
The nails dig into his chest now –
The torment tears to the core.
A heart erupts into fire,
And silence is pain no more.
"Behold! Yes, the path is brutal,
But only the brave will tread!
This road is sharp, harsh, and endless,
But here is the light ahead!"
"Oh people of night, still waiting—
Still craving the warmth of flames—
You hunger for signs unspoken?
The fire is here, in my veins!"
Blood like a river glowing
Scatters the fog and snows.
Eyes sting, the storm keeps blowing,
Yet forward his body goes.
Each step, each drip of crimson,
Marks paths through the endless dark,
As shadows of doubt grow distant,
And fire becomes their spark.
"Your tale will outlive your spirit."
"It matters nothing to me."
"Your name will be praised as legend—
They’ll call it your destiny."
"I doubt it. Their nature’s fleeting –
To crave only what was gone.
But that may yet show their children
How flickers of fire are born."
He falls, and the living follow
To lands where the blaze burns high,
Where none need a guide tomorrow,
Where life floods the open sky.
A kingdom of law and memory,
Of dawns that eclipse the night...
And though in his eyes rest teardrops,
None witness the fading light.
