Autographed albums, an original Tour de France bicycle and countless other items in Vadym’s store were destroyed in a Russian strike on Kyiv’s popular Pochaina flea market earlier in August. “All of this is irreplaceable,” he says. At least six markets in the Ukrainian capital have been damaged or destroyed since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Now, more than four years into the war, Ukraine is coming under daily fire, reporting hundreds of civilian deaths every month.
