The Kusarigama is one of Japan's most unique and feared historical weapons. Combining a sickle with a long chain and iron weight, it was designed to control distance, trap weapons, and strike from unexpected angles.
In this video I'll cover its history, construction, and some fascinating facts, including the legendary duel between Miyamoto Musashi and Shishido Baiken.
To make things more interesting, I also built my own safe sparring version, performed a short demonstration, tested it against a katana, and even did a crash test to compare the training version with the impact of a heavier weight.
