Kumu Hula Kawaikapuokalani Frank Hewett was awarded the Degree of Humane Letters by the University of Hawai‘i Board of Regents during WCCʻs 49th commencement. He was honored for his outstanding commitment to education and the perpetuation of Hawaiian knowledge and practices. As a lecturer at Windward CC since 1979, Kumu Kawaikapuokalani has been, and continues to be, a steadfast beacon of ‘ike Hawai‘i, mele Hawai‘i, and Hula throughout the community. We are proud to congratulate one of the pillars of Hawaiian understanding and learning! E ho‘omaika‘i ‘ana iā Kumu Kawaikapu! Nui ke aloha iā ‘oe!
