In this tutorial, you'll learn how to simulate IO mapping using the Robot Controller Simulation (RCS) in iiQWorks.Sim. We walk through building a custom Python-driven component called IntegerDummy to send and monitor digital signals in the simulation of a KR 10 R1100-2 robot. You’ll see how to trigger robot actions based on integer values and validate output signals using the Monitoring Window. This method allows full control of robot behavior in a virtual environment, which is ideal for testing before real-world deployment.
The content of this video is intended solely as a supplementary aid for mitigation purposes. It is not a substitute for formal training or certified instruction required for commissioning or operational procedures.
For official training and certification, participation in a KUKA College course is required. A link to the official KUKA College website is provided in the video description: go.kuka.com/KUKAcollegeiIQKAOS2
*What you’ll learn:*
00:00 Intro
00:16 Setup and Switch-Case logic for box selection
01:03 Creating the IntegerDummy component
01:25 Activating the Modeling Add-on
01:41 Adding geometry and properties
02:24 Adding behaviors and robot interface
02:44 Writing the Python script for signal conversion
04:25 Compiling and testing the script
04:55 Simulating input 119 to start robot program
