In 2007, the Call of Duty 4 speedrun and trickshot communities discovered a bug in the game's engine referring to the lack of proper collision mapping on sloped angles. The result of landing on these bugged surfaces allowed players to launch to great heights. Its purpose was to give speedrunners and trickshotters a new tech to use in their endeavors.
They succeeded.
Today, Infinity Ward calls it an exploit.
