Cordis is an elusive race that created a shining civilization and set the foundation of magic but were torn apart with internal strife. The conflict resulted in some of the Cordis to leave their hometown and call themselves the Perumago.
The Perumago created a civilization far greater than the Cordis. The Cordis on the other hand became reclusive and casted a barrier around their homeland to go in to hiding.
The Mage class in the game is rumored to be a Cordian.
These two races are important in the game's story as all power and apparently source of trouble comes from them.
The Perumago had disappeared mysteriously but a secret organization of alchemists calling themselves the Perumagion appeared claiming to be the spiritual successor of Perumago.
And the Cordis appeared to still exist but no one was sure if their legend was even true as no one was able to enter their land as the powerful barrier was maintained at all times.
But the antagonist of the game, Tenured Lord Protector Alchi, somehow found a way in to the reclusive land and managed to escape before rebel troops overtook the capitol city. This isn't that surprising as Alchi is the one who invented Lapisium, an alchemy power source that instantly pushed the medieval society of Kirenos beyond industrial development.
This is where the in-game story progress basically ended and things stayed that way for a year with just side-stories coming out as updates.
But it looks like players will finally be able to progress with the story as the teaser implies.

So the first thing they decide to do after opening the game to Nexon accounts is to update a Rare Avatar system.
Simply put, this system has you breaking avatars that are bought with real money [though they can be traded for in-game money in the auction house] for random boxes that has a chance to give you a Rare Avatar that has its own unique look and superior stats.
I understand that games, especially those that require a server, dont pay for themselves. But if they werent getting enough money through all the purchases of normal Avatars and stat re-rolling scrolls then its a problem of maintaining a sizable playerbase. Not a lack of income from the previous income model. Whats worse is how detailed the Rare Avatar is with its wings that move appropriately which doesnt seem like an simple thing to apply to the game.
Ive heard that this systems is an exact copy and paste of the Rare Avatar system in Dungeon and Fighters. While Im not familiar with that game I do know that its become Cash Central where spending Cash is almost mandatory to remain competitive.
One thing that can be considered as a consolation is that this game can be played solo so I dont have any obligations to keep up with recent gear trends. Also, the stat balancing system in PvP is doing a good job in giving poorly geared players a chance to beat better geared opponents. This means I can just ignore the whole existence of Rare Avatars.")

There was a bug with monsters dealing damage before theyre supposed to during the first half of the vid.
Bandit Camp was one of my favorite hunting grounds during the beta because it offered monsters with varied levels of strength. We have the usual trash mobs that you kill by the dozen but also powerful brutal type monsters that are highly resistant against CCs and pack a punch in their attacks.")

To be honest, I didnt have any expectations for April Fools when I saw them recycling the Gallagher event on the test server but they sure got me this time.
While the Gallagher event was used again that wasnt the only thing added. Players are given cosmetics[makeup for males and mustaches for female]. and happy potions by the strange traveler. Which can only be used during April first, of course.
The potions are used for what is demonstrated on this vid, characters will dance in the style of another character.

All of which adds up nicely for some lols.
Another joke was added in the developers notes that introduces five new main characters for the new mainstream story.

The catch here is that the first paragraph when read vertically says April Fools believe it or not.
Which is disappointing because I liked some of the concepts shown here.
Then again who knows? They might be pulling off another Vella where they throw an idea as an April Fools joke and see how the community reacts. Which makes sense as the illustrations shown here are likely from the batch of actual concept arts of character concepts as they have said that they work on several character concepts at once while one is chosen for actual development and release for each year. Some of the illustrations look like too much work for just throwing out as an April Fools joke.
Other than that, the character styles have a striking resemblance of what many players on forums have been wanting.

Massive character that bears a resemblance to Karoks original concept.
Though in the end this developers note could still be what it claims to be, an April Fools joke. But its still nice to have something to dream about.... and see a Karok with makeup doing a Lynn dance.....")
