Kris Valletton and Bill Johnson Bethel Redding Response to Shawn Bolz Exposure from Mike Winger. Bethel church redding responds last week with Kris Vallotton failing to take any responsibility for the situation, saying "he did all he could" and asking, "What else are we expecting from them?" This caused outrange from the charismatic community. They then put out a statement they would revisit the issues this Sunday. This Sunday January 25th, Bethel Church had a come-to-Jesus moment and a major turnaround. The leadership team of Bill Johnson and Kris Vallotton decided to address the congregation, and they were broken and contrite about the situation. They admitted they made major mistakes in the way they handled it. They asked for forgiveness from the victims and from the body of Christ. After watching the full service, I do feel this was a sincere repentance, delivered with tears. They stated a strong commitment to never let this happen again. Bill Johnson said that in this case, he had offered "unsanctified mercy" to Bolz. They then rebuked Shawn Bolz in the presence of all, warning others to stay away from his ministry. This doesn't undo the damage they have caused, but it's a start. I am choosing to forgive Bethel for their failure to provide proper oversight in the Shawn Bolz situation. Although I forgive Bethel leadership, I still do not trust them at the moment. Trust is earned, and only time will tell if their repentance is genuine. But their response today was commendable.
