Throwback Thursday: Assault on Terok Nor

Brets Gaming Channel 2025-01-30 | This is the last time I ever ran Assault on Terok Nor, May 3rd 2022. I'd consider this well above average PUG performance, as I wasn't the only person doing the console codes... although the boss fight could've gone more smoothly. You'll notice I have threatening stance on in the boss room, trying to lure her to the floor panels which depower her when activated by a teammate, but my team was a little inconsistent at timing them correctly.

Personally, I like this TFO a lot more than its replacement, "Forged in Fire," but Forged in Fire is a lot easier since it requires less teamwork.

Also, is Override Technician Alpha / Computer Specialist voiced by the same VA that did Tali in Mass Effect? Around 5:30

Do Borg Actually Resist Drain? Lets find out.

Short answer: No, nothing has drain resist besides players. Also it is critical to note that taking power levels to zero does NOT take that subsystem offline. A ship at 0 power can still fire weapons, has shields up, can move - but at reduced strength. However I'm all ears if anyone thinks my testing is flawed or if I missed something.

14th Anniversary Bundle Thoughts

Brets Gaming Channel 2024-02-19 | I always hesitate to do videos on things I haven't fully tested yet, but I spent some time this weekend learning about the bundle with some friends and have some thoughts on whether I think it's worth it, especially for my current situation where I have T6 coupons but no zen, and I'm not willing to buy any zen with the current state of PvP.

Great bundle for DEW support players though! Just to clarify, I don't think DEW is going to outpace Torps in ISE or EPG in HSE runs, but I do think it will close the gap a bit.

I tried two different configurations in this match, after a short break my team was on the defensive and we wanted to keep our lead up to the 45 minute time limit. Awesome match!

Brets Gaming Channel 2023-07-09 | A high speed, all hydra dogfighter battle. These are very popular pvp builds on PC right now, using Surgical Strikes for maximum spike damage, while universal consoles like DPRM or abilities like Evade Target Lock are used for survivability. It's a ton of fun to fight like this and it is great practice for focusing targets as a team in a kind of rock-paper-scissors game.

Terran Hydra Build Update Testing - 2 Matches (1W, 1L)

Brets Gaming Channel 2023-05-10 | Trying some new things on the Hydra surgical strikes configuration. Very strong damage output but extremely fragile, with low shields and a heavy reliance on speed to survive. I'm very susceptible to being slowed or taking constant damage when focused since I don't have the healing to counter continuous damage. I've switched to arrays on this build due to its lower turn rate, and now with Clean Getaway the speed is a little bit difficult to manage so it helps to have weapons with wider firing arcs, even if my overall spike damage suffers as a result.

Super fun to fly although it makes me think I should try mouse piloting for ships this fast instead of my usual WASD controls, but it's hard to overcome that muscle memory.

Kelvin TLaru Carrier - PvP Match

Brets Gaming Channel 2023-05-07 | Just messing around with the T'Laru carrier. This ship has full intel spec as well as a temporal seat, similar to the Adamant raider, except this ship has two hangar bays and is classified as a full carrier. I'm using Support Frigates which have Suppression Barrage 3, FAW, Viral Matrix, Sensor Scan, Scattering Field - very good pets in theory for extended combat like PvP. I'm sort of combining three specializations really, Intel + Temporal + Command pets.

I think it worked pretty well, but it is a huge slow target and lacks the capacity for a pure control build like a Daemosh or Scryer. The turn rate made it difficult to keep up with faster ships and worse, I missed quite a few chances for a well timed Subnucleonic beam. I also miss the secondary deflector damage of a true science vessel. Still, it was pretty fun to fly and the singularity abilities are a life saver.

F2P Account Update: Legendary JemHadar Attack Ship

Brets Gaming Channel 2023-04-30 | Finally my efforts of dil grinding have paid off with the latest 35% sale, since I was just barely able to make 5850z last week. This will be the new platform for dogfighter builds on this character and its traits (extending Rapid Fire and Surgical Strikes in particular) will be useful in the future.

Now to plan out what to get next, specifically with the event campaign choice. I have plenty of time to think about it as I'm still two events away from getting that box.

Legendary Akira PvP Match

Brets Gaming Channel 2023-04-23 | A bit of lag on this one, and the ship itself is pretty suboptimal, but I do love the look of it. Trying out the Maelstrom torpedo with Spread 1 on this build as well - I'll talk about it more in the build video but it's a very inconsistent performer. Throughout this match I only land one really good hit on a player and I fire it over 20 times.

Undine Cheirax PvP Match

Brets Gaming Channel 2023-04-06 | Flying around this Undine Cheirax. This ship is unique as the only ship in the game with full pilot (with maneuvers) but a 4/4 broadside weapon layout, and no experimental weapon. This wasn't my best performance but it's a ton of fun to fly and the broadsiding ability makes it easy to deal damage all around, but it does suffer from less spike damage to forward targets. I am also using the fluidic puddles console from the Kiwavi bioship, which covers the map in fluidic space objects that slow down enemies if they fly through them - a cool idea, but I don't think it was very effective because most players are smart enough not to fly through them, and the slow effect isn't that strong anyway.

Deimos Pilot Ship PvP - 2 Matches

Brets Gaming Channel 2023-04-05 | The Deimos is one of the better dogfighting ships in the game - not only does it have a great boff layout but the Immolating Phaser Lance console it comes with is great for taking down a shield facing and adding some damage to supplement your ship weapons. Fun ship to fly, and only a tiny bit more fragile than the Legendary JHAS.

Brets Gaming Channel 2023-04-05 | Tholian gear is some of my favorite in the game and I really like the aesthetic of their ships. I used an Iktomi theme build before with Tykens, just like the NPC's use, but this time I'm using gravity well and a more traditional sci/control configuration. However, I am still bringing with me all of the web consoles I could find:

-Tholian Web Cannon from the Tarantula

I tried to get a shot off with the Web Cannon but I really only succeeded once, at 11:25 or so by guessing when someone would come out of obfuscation screen.

Legendary Scimitar PvP - 2 Matches

Brets Gaming Channel 2023-04-03 | Testing out a spike damage cloaking/torpedo build on the Legendary Scimiar, which shares a very similar seating to the Legendary T'Liss. I struggled with maneuverability for sure, even with pilot spec, so I'm sure this build would be better on the T'Liss but it was pretty fun to fly anyway. I need a bit of practice to remember to use the cloaking ambush, and I didn't use "She's a Predator" on this build but that might've been a good fit for it too, especially since it was rather fragile for such a large target.

Daemosh PvP Match - Sci Control Build

Brets Gaming Channel 2023-03-31 | I'm using a fairly aggressive configuration in this match on the Daemosh, with high damage EPG consoles like Plasma Storm, Aakar's, and Cascading Subatomic. The tradeoff is this build has less ability to control and slow targets, but has a bit of spike damage on its own to help out. It's also on the fragile side, which is why I have multiple survival consoles too.

It's important when looking at the scoreboard to remember that a build like this is doing a lot of AoE damage to pets, summons, and objects. Keep in mind controls, disables, and holds do not show up on the parse or scoreboard, but can be game changers when it comes to winning or losing. PvP on this kind of build isn't about DPS/Damage really, it's about locking a target down and debuffing them - a stuck target with resistances dropped only takes ~150k damage to finish off.
