Hey Konnakkol lovers, listen to this traditional Konnakkol presentation by Vidwan Vellore T.P. Gopalachariar, father of Mridangam Legend Vidwan Vellore G. Ramabhadran. In this excerpt, Vidwan T.P. Gopalachariar is melodically reciting Konnakkol, in sync with the Raga Punnagavarali. This sort of melodic - rhythmic presentation requires great amount of recitation skills along with in-depth knowledge in Shruthi, Raga & Bhava. This track must be atleast 80 or 90 years old and it is one of the oldest konnakkol recordings that I have collected till date.
I am extremely grateful to ‘Padma Shri’ Dr. John Marr Sir for sharing this rare piece of vintage music, during my visit as a Guest Faculty at The Bhavan, London in 2018. I am also indebted to Dr. M.N. Nandakumara Sir for giving me this wonderful opportunity.
