Just because you can hit a note…
doesn’t mean you should hit that note on stage at a performance…
There’s a difference between your total range and your comfortable, usable range.
Your total range is everything you can reach.
Your comfortable range are the notes you can hit without warming up a bunch and really working your voice- just what you can naturally hit pretty easily.
That’s the space you can rely on.
Both are important to know.
But when you’re choosing songs or arranging a set, you want to work with the range that supports stamina, tone, and freedom.
Knowing your real, comfortable range makes all the difference.
Do you know your vocal ranges?
It’s really easy to figure it out!
Just hit the notes and then pluck them out on a piano (based on hearing). If you don’t have a piano you can always just download a piano app on your phone. There it’ll even tell you what the notes are called 😉
