This has been a long time coming! Going as far back as 2007! But now we finally made this happen.Here is a comparison ride-through of both Knott's Bear-y Tales and Kingdom of The Dinosaurs; 1975 and 1986. Both attractions were designed by Disney Imagineers Rolly Crump and Bob Gurr. So the building has had some Disney touch to it back in those days. Sadly, the videos do not do these rides justice. For Bear-y Tales, you do not get to see the Blacklight environments that the ride was praised for to see why people loved that ride. That and maintenance wasn't the best for the ride. Same goes to Kingdom of The Dinosaurs since it too was the low down as well. I think if you seen how both rides were in their prime, you would see why us fans love these rides! I think everyone who experienced them would tell you!
Honestly, I love them both. I don't see why we gotta have little wars on which one is better. They're both great rides that have pros and cons. KBT may have more simple with the Small World-like figures among the blacklight environment, while Kingdom is more impressive with its figures that were rushed but very well built. KBT is more filled with immersion and Kingdom takes the scents out among other immersive stuff and so forth. But regardless, I think we can all agree that both rides are amazing in their own ways.
They're still better than Voyage To The Iron Reef and in some cases the current Bear-y Tales. Which is still better than Iron Reef and is a great ride in its own right. But these two rides will always be the best by a mile. They were amazing dark rides lost to time. If only we got Kingdom back in a different location at the park! Then we Bear-y Tales fans can celebrate with the Kingdom fans! They deserve their attraction back in some way!
Fun Fact: The Boysenberry scent was still in the Kingdom of The Dinosaurs when it opened in 1987!
