Knotting thread for the beginner sewer : Sewing 101 for beginners

This is good for those who are beginners in hand sewing and beginners in hand embroidery.

There are different ways to knot the end of a thread. I have been sewing, quilting, and embroidering for years and I find this is the best and most secure method for hand sewing. I will even clip the excess thread right to the knot and the needlework still stays secure.

My daughter on the other hand likes the quick method of balling it up in the palm of her hand. I personally don't like the randomness and unpredictable nature of this. :0)
