Championship leader Ash Sutton continued his charge towards a potential fifth Drivers’ title with a superb victory in Round 17, securing his seventh race win of the 2026 season for NAPA Racing UK.
Starting fourth on the grid, Sutton quickly made his way past Gordon Shedden and Adam Morgan before setting his sights on Daniel Rowbottom at the front. Rowbottom produced an impressive drive to lead the early stages in the Cataclean Plato Racing Mercedes A35 Saloon, despite running minimal boost and the harder Goodyear tyre compound.
Sutton eventually made his move at the final hairpin, slicing down the inside of Rowbottom to take the lead. Two Safety Car periods interrupted the race, with the second leaving the field with just one final lap to settle the result. Sutton held his advantage to take the chequered flag, while Rowbottom fended off Ricky Collard to secure second.
Behind them, it was a difficult race for Sutton’s main championship rival Tom Ingram. The Team VERTU driver suffered a power problem from the start before contact with Gordon Shedden caused radiator damage and forced him into retirement.
Mikey Doble finished fourth, while Adam Morgan made it another strong result for Cataclean Plato Racing with fifth. Charles Rainford produced one of the drives of the race, charging from 21st on the grid to finish sixth for WSR.
Gordon Shedden held on for seventh ahead of fellow Scot Dexter Patterson, with NAPA Racing UK’s Dan Cammish, Sam Osborne and Lewis Selby completing the top 11.
