In today's episode we break down the realities of arm span vs. body width on drop shoulder style sweaters. We look at real world examples of different size garments on two bodies of the same circumference and then look at the math... but it's easy math. I promise!

Believe it or not, I had used compound raglan shaping without knowing what it was called.
And now that I know, I want you ALL to know, too!
In this episode, we look at WHAT compound raglan shaping is, how to use it, and what to look for aesthetically when considering adding it to your garment!

*If you want to knit up my sample yoke*
Using a US 10 / 6 mm needle and a bulky weight yarn (I used my favorite, @EweEweYarns Baa Baa Bulky), cast on 36 stitches using the long tail cast on method. Place a marker for the beginning of round and join to work in the round. _You will need 3 additional markers to indicate each raglan seam in the Setup Round._
Work 2 rounds of (K2, p2) ribbing.
Setup Rnd: K6, place marker (yellow), k12, place marker (green), k6, place marker (orange), k12.
*Section 1*
Round 1: *K1, M1L, knit to 1 st before marker, M1R, k1, slip marker; repeat from * 3 more times. [8 sts increased: 2 in each sleeve and 2 in front and back]
Round 2: (Knit to marker, slip marker) 2 times, k1, M1L, knit to 1 st before marker, M1R, slip marker, knit to end. [2 sts increased in left sleeve only]
Repeat [Rounds 1 and 2] 4 more times.
50 sts increased; 86 sts total:
16 in right sleeve
22 in front
26 in left sleeve
22 in back
*Section 2*
Round 1: (K1, M1L, knit to 1 st before marker, M1R, k1, slip marker) 2 times, knit to marker, slip marker, k1, M1L, k2, M1L, knit to 3 sts before marker, M1R, k2, M1R, k1. [8 sts increased: 2 in right sleeve, 2 in front, 0 in left sleeve and 4 in back]
Round 2: Knit to marker, slip marker, k1, M1L, knit to 1 st before marker, M1R, slip marker, (knit to marker, slip marker) 2 times. [2 sts increased in front only]
Repeat [Rounds 1 and 2] 4 more times.
50 sts inc; 136 sts total:
26 in right sleeve
42 in front
26 in left sleeve
42 in back
