Klemheist knot or French Machard knot - How to Tie the Klemheist Knot (Haul Hoist and Climb), This knot is also sometimes misspelt as the Kleimheist Knot. Also during the video I was thinking about that and mispronounced it also!!!

The Klemheist is one of those knots that is easy to learn and can be useful in the same way as the Prusik knot, in fact they are fairly similar in their construction.
I understand that this knot is often used by climbers to assist in the ascent and decent of climbing a rope. The Klemheist is used to take the weight of a climber when resting, or assisting the climber to climb if two or more are used together. The loop when created is often referred to as the Prusik Loop. This knot is also used by arborists.
