Time for some linguistics AND anthropology! Kinship systems are basically what terms people use for family members and why, and of course different societies have different strategies for this.
I'm only talking about the basic ones, and other systems are also super interesting! But I think breaking down what makes the basic ones tick is useful especially for worldbuilders. Next video will have a bit of putting this into practice.
There are lots of resources for this, but for more detail I'd recommend umanitoba.ca/faculties/arts/anthropology/tutor/kinterms/termsys.html - it's got a few examples of systems in practise too.
