These budget comps, featuring anonymous session musicians performing the hits of the day, are generally uninteresting. Occasionally, you get a sense that they put a little more effort into a song. I really love this stripped down, ultra mellow take on the Sly Stone masterpiece. It's a lot more 'straight' than the stoned, tweaked, and claustrophobic sound of the original, but that's also what makes it fascinating to hear.
