King's Bounty: New Worlds (originally titled King's Bounty: Crossworlds Game of the Year Edition) is a bundle containing two games – King's Bounty: Armored Princess and King's Bounty: Expansion Pack (King's Bounty: Crossworlds).
King's Bounty: Warrior Princess is a game combining real-time strategy and RPG elements, with turn-based combat on hexagonal boards. The game is largely reminiscent of the popular Heroes of Might & Magic series. The main storyline of this game focuses on the story of the titular young woman. The land of Endoria is threatened by grave danger, and Amelia, against the wishes of her father, Mark, embarks on a crucial mission to the new world, following in the footsteps of her mentor, the famous knight Bill Gilbert. Terrifying monsters and hostile forces stand in her way, and hundreds of challenges await. Alone in a strange land, relying only on her own strength and knowledge – will she fail, or will she find friends and successfully complete her mission? That depends on the player controlling the protagonist's actions.
Our protagonist's journey is enhanced by, among other things, a charming little dragon, which, under its owner's command, can transform into a truly deadly weapon. Initially, our pet seems of little use, more interested in chasing butterflies, but over time, it becomes increasingly confident, defending its owner. It also possesses nine unique skills, which can be developed with experience. Another new feature is the ability to soar over the lands on a winged horse, which certainly adds a touch of freshness to the gameplay and solves some of the challenges encountered.
In Warrior Princess, the experience cap has been raised – the heroine can now advance even beyond level 50, making her powerful enough to face new bosses, including the robot Drill, a giant gremlin, and the oversized lizardman K'Tahu. The overall character development and care system has been slightly revised – for example, the skill tree has been diversified, and the ability to use ancient wanderer magic on a broader scale has been made available. Players will also be pleased by the introduction of a system of bounties on the heads of selected heroes, a rather enjoyable way to earn extra cash and experience additional adventures. Another innovation is the awarding of medals for meeting specific requirements. These can be, for example, a reward for intense treasure hunting or for using specific spells. Naturally, receiving these medals confers certain bonuses on the character we control. In addition, a number of new items have been prepared, which, when equipped on Amelia, significantly increase her combat value.
King's Bounty: The Expansion Pack offers two new, expanded scenarios. The first is the Champion of the Arena stage, telling the story of Arthur's participation in the gladiator tournament and documenting his attempt to win the championship belt. The second is the Defender of the Crown campaign, consisting of battles against randomly generated sets of enemies, which the player, as Princess Amelia, plays on unique maps that require the use of sophisticated tactics. By participating in these scenarios, the player gains access to new skills and the ability to fight special bosses.
The expansion also offers the opportunity to test elements not available in Warrior Princess, but included in the March of the Orcs pack. These include previously unseen units (including monsters), which serve not only as opponents but also as allies supporting the player in combat. One of these is a powerful dragon, not only protecting the Princess but also capable of striking enemies with several types of fiery attacks. The expansion introduces seventy new items, fifty abilities and skills, and thirteen spells. Players test these new elements while completing seven additional quests, which expand on the story of Warrior Princess. These quests provide at least several hours of additional gameplay.
The campaign editor is also a very interesting addition. This tool allows players to create their own storyline while simultaneously specifying many important parameters (the number of heroes and items, the format of quests, and the shape and size of maps).
