In this video we take a look at some of the earliest kingdoms of Cyprus on record. They are an interesting mix of both Greek and Phoenician elements. While most were first mentioned in an inscription of the Assyrian king Esarhaddon around 670 BCE, nearly all of these kingdoms lasted well into the Hellenistic and Roman periods. They also became important players in the politics of the ancient eastern Mediterranean region.
