Here's a series I haven't covered in a while! After getting a shout-out from the amazingly regular Kingdom Hearts Youtuber @RegularPat, I wanted to return the gratitude with the gift of more Kingdom Hearts piano music. I've been biased towards the arrangements in the Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections and the Kingdom Hearts Field & Battle piano book in a while, so I wanted to try out this quaint little tune (at least while I practice the hecc out of the Riku's theme arrangement to perform in 20 years haha). Really happy with how the final product sounds with the new Garritan CFX VST.

Fans of this channel know that Final Fantasy XIII has one of my favorite soundtracks of all time and is also one of my favorite games ever. While I have played the game and have covered several tracks from it (including The Promise, Prelude, and Hanging Edge), I havent experienced much of its sequel XIII-2. While I did cover one track from the game (the main theme Wishes) and have listened to a few tracks in the OST, I never really expressed as much interest in this game as the original. However, one day I was just randomly watching the fighting game streamer dekillsage and heard some amazing music in the background. Turns out it was this piece! I knew right away that I had to cover this.
For this ambitious arrangement, I wanted to cover all the basses that the original tune did with its funky and fast-paced jazz fusion style. For that, I got some familiar faces and some new friends to join me on the tune! Make sure yall show some love to Lacey Johnson on electric guitar, ViolinGamer on violin, GuitarSVD on acoustic guitar, and Music on the D Lo on bass!

Whats this? An upload on a Tuesday? Well it may surprise you to hear, but I officially played piano for a track in an actual game!
My speedrunning and musician buddy Zachary Talis asked me a while ago to play piano for a track he was writing for a new indie game called Nowhere New, so I happily jumped on-board! Its a very interesting looking game with a gritty sci-fi atmosphere, and I am all about that.

Gee, I’ve been on a Final Fantasy hiatus for a while, even with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake coming out recently! Now that the current Pixel Mixers contest is a ‘battle of the elements’ theme, I decided to join Team Water and perform a piece that I’ve wanted to do for a long time, the Besaid Island arrangement from the Final Fantasy X Piano Collections.
Ever since I first listened to this track, I was hooked by the rich colors and textures of the arrangement (definitely thanks to it being composed and arranged by one of my favorite composers, Masashi Hamauzu, who I also just found out composed the Final Fantasy VII Remake soundtrack!). While the source material is a bit unconventional and synth-y, this arrangement takes that tune and even more unconventionally turns it into a sea shanty sort of tune. I love how the melody is embedded beautifully in the sing-songy extra melodic lines that Hamauzu wrote in, along with how the harmonies and lines flow together like, well, water!
I tried to touch up the arrangement too with my own bits of improv and phrasing. Hopefully you’ll be able to notice how I tried to use the dynamics in the second refrain to make it sound sort of like a conversation between Tidus and Yuna, along with how the dynamics and even tempo buck and sway like waves on the ocean. I’m probably getting ahead of myself with all this musicality mumbo-jumbo, but I really wanted to put my all into this interpretation (since I didn’t have to use any brain power to arrange the thing myself haha).
Anyways, hopefully this time I don’t go on a Final Fantasy Piano Collections binge for months again, I got some more varied, relaxing, and spicy tunes coming up soon!

Legit tho, every time I get back into grinding for endgame moons in Mario Odyssey, I make sure to put on the classic Nintendo 64 costume and play this song while schmoovin through the platforming to get that old time nostalgic Mario vibes. Mario Odyssey is a great game (that Im even trying to learn to speedrun now o_0) with a great soundtrack, so I was super happy to see the wonderful sheet music made by the Deku Trombonist (link below) out on the internet! Nostalgia trip!
1 year and 4 months ago, I released my first ever high-quality piano cover on this channel, which happened to be this song (https://youtu.be/YWcl5YBWUrg). Playing Super Mario Galaxy 2, my sister had once told me that I should learn the World 3 music on piano. So I hastily wrote down sheets by ear at an RC airfield, figured out how to record MIDI, and found out that my laptop camera could actually work to record covers.

Time to casually grind some tomatoes and T. Rexs...
OK so I gotta admit, Ive never actually played Final Fantasy 12 or the remastered Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age 😅However, over the summer at my internship, while I was busy slogging away tons of Excel spreadsheets, I decided to listen to ever single bit of Final Fantasy music I could find on the Interwebz, which included all of the piano collections. Man, I liked all of them so much that I decided as a piano project to learn one piece from every single one.
This selection from FFXII piano collections was especially excellent due to the amount of variety given to the original theme. While the actual piece is an upbeat, John Williams-esque adventure theme, the arrangement managed to pack that same vibe while also adding in some more subtle, relaxing motifs and a classical rondeau form.
Hopefully Ill do justice to some of these more obscure piano collections via this Final Fantasy pet project! Expect some FFXI, FFXIII, FFIX, and FFVII coming soon! :D

Seriously tho, when I first started just randomly listening to Distant Worlds albums and all the Piano Collections this summer, something about the Final Fantasy XIII tracks just struck me, and after looking into the soundtrack and game more, I cant believe that a game with such a mixed/negative reception can look and sound so beautiful, so much so that I want to try this game out sometime anyway even though most people say the gameplay is awful :P

Aight so this is a bit out of the blue for me! I wanted to make a track for this years Soundole Chill-out VGM contest, so I thought what better track to flip than the vibin bop that is Tokyo Daylight from Persona 5! But I couldnt just do a normal chill piano remix with the calibre of competition going on, so I tried my hand at combining some of my lofi/remix skills along with incorporating live jazzy smooth piano. Pretty proud of how snazzy the end result came out, even if it wasnt exactly the lofi hip-hop genre that I was originally planning!
On top of just having some A E S T H E T I C audio, my friend NCC and I headed out to the beach to capture this funny little music video to go along with it (since we dont have any cities nearby to film at lol)! See if you can catch all the fun little Easter eggs we threw in :P

E V E R Y O N E I S H E R E (Waluigi wahs melancholically in the distance).
Man, Ive been waiting to hear this main theme for the new Super Smash Bros. for months now, and BOY IS IT GOOD! I can listen to this for hooours tho. Somehow managed to cram in the time after work everyday to transcribe, practice, record, and engrave all this and Im happy with how it turned out :D
So here are my personal thoughts on the game: At first, all I wanted in the new Smash was my boy Wolf and that was it. So you can probably tell that when they revealed EVERY CHARACTER EVER AND THEN SOME AND THEN RIDLEY, I was going ecstatic while chunks of brain flew apart as my mind was blown. From my competitive Smash standpoint, the gameplay still looks like itll sorta be Smash 4.5, but it does seem to have some interesting movement options that could sorta take the place of the true wavedash. However, from a casual perspective I want this game NOW NOW NOW ahhhhh!!!!!111!!!11!
So anyway hope you all enjoy listening to and playing this piece if youre a pianist! As for the future release of this game, well... you better watch out for DS, the next greatest Wolf and Ridley player of all time mwahaha
P. S. Sorry I couldnt get u guys any piano footage :( Hopefully Ill record some video of me playing this when the school year starts again.
